The important work of the College, most significantly, the high quality education for our students, could not be done without their support. Donor Profile - Gary and Kathy Lance

"This is our home, so we have every reason to support the college," Gary and Kathy Lance firmly agree. They have never questioned their financial support of Haywood Community College. Kathy's father taught her many years ago how important the college is to Haywood County. She says she remembers being on campus in the early years with her father when the college first started. So, for her, supporting HCC not only speaks of her recognizing the important role HCC plays in economic development, but it also carries on a "family" tradition.

The couple has been a part of L.N. Davis Company since 1977, shortly after they graduated from college. Over the years, the Lance's have worked with several student interns from HCC's business program. "We have been extremely pleased with our working relations with HCC and the students," said Kathy. "Sometimes it can be very difficult to get qualified and well-trained people to work in our business." Kathy noted that one of their best employees, who has worked for them for 6 years, came to the company as an HCC intern.

"Most people don't realize what a diverse group of programs are offered at HCC and the important role it plays in developing our economy through workforce development," said Gary. "The community is very fortunate to have HCC as a resource.
