Dr. Chad Bledsoe Joins HCC as Vice President of Academic and Workforce Development

Dr. Chad Bledsoe will join the faculty and staff of Haywood Community College as the Vice President of Academic and Workforce Development effective August 1. He replaces Bill Rhodarmer who retired from the college this summer after more than 20 years.

Bledsoe brings a wealth of North Carolina community college experience to HCC. Most recently, he served as dean of career technologies at Surry Community College. He also worked at Wake Technical Community College as a faculty member in computer technologies and as division chair at Wilkes Community College.

Prior to joining the community college system, Bledsoe managed his families’ art galleries and built residential houses. He still holds a general contractor’s license and home inspector license for the state.   

Bledsoe obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from Western Carolina University, a master’s degree in business administration and information systems from Appalachian State University, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

From his previous positions, Bledsoe obtained a wide variety of experience in workforce development and local business and industry which will prove beneficial to HCC.

“This environment is suited to my personality,” Bledsoe explains. “I am very excited. I know I will love being a part of this educational community.”

Bledsoe enjoys to travel, bike, hike, and camp with his wife.
